Article titled “At pollution site here, scientists hope bacteria are doing the dirty work” appeared on the front page of the Arizona Daily Star highlighting the collaborative work of three Arizona university researchers investigating whether resident bacteria could help clean up toxic chloroethenes at a Tucson Superfund site. Tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) are among the most common contaminants detected in ground water systems.

UA SBRP researchers Dr. Mark Brusseau and Dr. James Field, in collaboration with Dr. Maribeth Watwood, a biology professor and researcher at Northern Arizona University, are working together to assess the viability of bioremediation of these compounds.
