Investigator Ornella Selmin will serve as Molecular Toxicologist Expert on Minority Biomedical Research Program Review Committee

UA SBRP investigator, Dr. Ornella Selmin will be serving as a Molecular Toxicology expert on a National Institute of Health (NIH) review panel for the Minority Biomedical Research Program (MBRS) program in Bethesda, MD on October 5-6, 2006. Dr. Selmin will be reviewing research project applications in genetics, microbiology, immunology and cell biology.

The MBRS program supported by the NIH aims to help fill the nation's shortage of minority men and women in biomedical research careers. The MBRS program awards grants to 2- or 4-year colleges, universities, and health professional schools with considerable enrollments of minorities. These grants in turn support research by faculty members, strengthen the institutions' biomedical research capabilities, and provide opportunities for students to work as part of a research team.
