UA SBRP Welcomes Research Associate Song Gao


UA SBRP welcomes Dr. Song Gao, who recently joined SBRP investigator Dr. Eric Betterton’s team as a Research Associate in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences. Dr. Gao will participate in the Superfund project titled: “New Technologies for the Remediation of Halogenated Organics”.

Till now, Dr. Gao's research has focused on the chemical nature, sources and formation pathways of airborne particulate matter and its relevant impact on air pollution, global climate and human health. Before joining The University of Arizona, he was an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Washington in 2002 and then completed his post-doctoral work at the California Institute of Technology in 2005. In April of this year, Dr. Gao was invited to present his research titled: “Identity, origin, and evolution of polar organic compounds in fine aerosols in the Southeastern United States” at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly in Vienna, Austria.
