Timberly Roane, a UA SBRP alumna, recently visited UA to discuss her work on toxic metals found on museum artifacts and to take samples from artifacts at the Arizona State Museum. Dr. Roane studied metal toxicity and bioremediation while at UA and is now developing biological approaches to restoration of fragile museum artifacts treated in the past with high levels of arsenic and mercury as a method of preservation. Dr. Roane is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Colorado-Denver and this work is being carried out in association with the National Park Services, National Center for Preservation Technology and Training.
